Search Engine Optimization - Part 3
Most
IT outsourcing companies are really good at what they do, but make
everything seem like a company secret when it is available on the
internet for everyone if you look hard enough. On that note, while we
have covered a lot about search engines, we still haven’t covered costs
or how sites actually get onto search engines. We’ll jump right into
the questions today:
Isn’t
it free to submit a site to a search engine? Can’t I keep resubmitting
my site to search engines to ensure my search engines know about my
site?
Yes and no. Some search engines are free to submit
within a certain criteria. This could be time since last submission,
required number of changes, etc… Some search engines though, do charge
for each submission. Your monthly fee help cover these constant costs.
Not knowing what the criteria each search engine has, you can possibly
get banned from search engines all together. Over submitting your site
is the same as SPAMMING search engines. You wouldn’t want your clients
emailing you every 5 minutes to make sure you got their email right?
Why am I obligated to a 1 year contract with JS Consulting Group Inc?
Choosing to optimize your website is an investment in your company. It
takes time to properly and ethically optimize your website. Beyond that
though, search engines submission requires us to take on a one year
contract with them for each domain. Even if we do not resubmit your
website each month, we will be billed by the search engine. As a
result, we constantly review your site, the statistics and suggest
changes with the algorithm changes to ensure the optimization is
completed to your satisfaction over the course of a year. Our website
application development services team ensures that your site is
customized to get you on top and stay on top of the search engines.
I never submitted my site to a search engine, how did it get there?
Search engines use spiders which travel the web going from site to
site, storing information in their databases. Even if you don’t submit
your site to a search engine, eventually it will be found by the
spiders. Submitting your site is like announcing your arrival at a
party. It allows the search engine to know your site exists, thereby
accelerating the process of being indexed. It can’t index your site if
it does not know it exists!
Did you know that some search engines actually
have a custom software development service team to ensure their
algorithm is different each month? Did you know some of those
development teams add your site manually to their databases?
What’s the difference between search engine optimization and search engine submission?
Search engine submission is like arriving to a restaurant with a party
of 20 and taking a number for a table, they know you are there, but
they will help you when they get to you. Once you sit down, and you may
not all be together, you finally let the restaurant know that your
party is there for a 6 course meal. Chances are you will have to wait
for preparation of the tables, of the food, etc…
Search engine optimization is like making reservations with all the
required information, if the restaurant not only knows that you are
coming, but can prepare your 6 course meal for party of 20 in advance.
Your table will be ready; the kitchen will be prepared for your order.
Your event will be well organized and significantly faster.
