Physical data flow is drawn in the form of a diagram and model the technical and human design decisions to be implemented as part of an information system. Their main purpose is to communicate technical choices and other design decisions to those who will actually construct and implement the system.

The physical data flow diagrams are technical blueprints for system construction and implementation. Below is a sample diagram (Note: This diagram is intentionally incomplete and oversimplified):
